Overview

The BSS dietitian nutritionist works both independently and alongside psychologists, developing wellness programs and materials tailored to law enforcement, providing nutrition counseling to individuals and groups, and serving as an expert resource on all issues related to nutrition for the Department. Through a variety of services, the dietitian nutritionist works with employees to help them manage the unique on-the-job needs and challenges that affect their careers and lives. Examples include preventing and managing cardiovascular disease, cancer, injuries, and excess weight through nutritional and other behavioral interventions, trainings, and tailored handouts. The dietitian nutritionist also oversees the training of the Health & Fitness cadre of Peer Support and coordinates the monthly Health Matters well-being campaign.
